Ventilator Support
Manage and monitor home ventilators for pediatric patients in need of constant respiratory support. We monitor respiratory effort and oxygen needs and provide prompt treatment or weaning as specified by doctor's orders and plan of care.

Respiratory Support
Skilled nurses in the home provide: cough assist, CPT, suction, shake vest, and nebulizer treatments. All of these can be done routinely or PRN as the nurse deems necessary on ongoing assessment of the patient's needs. Nurses manage oxygen therapy and needs with home pulse oximetry both continuous and spot checks as needed. Weaning as well as increasing oxygen as ordered by physician.

Nutritional Needs
Registered nurses as well as licensed practical nurses provide in home nutrition via G-tube, NG-tube and PO. Strict aspiration precautions in all of these routes. Enteral feedings can be bolused to gravity, bolused on Kangaroo pump, or continuous via Kangaroo pump. RN's also administer TPN via central line or PICC, strictly monitoring weight, intake, output and labs. This is monitored weekly by physician, where labs can be obtained in the home preventing an office or hospital visit.

Tracheostomy Care
Nurses are trained in tracheostomy care both routinely and PRN. Routine trach changes as ordered weekly by physician as well as emergency trach change. Trach suction routinely and PRN.

Nursing Visits
Most patients receive in home private duty nursing, as ordered by physician and approved by Mississippi Medicaid, ranging from 8 hours up to 24 hours a day. A typical nursing shift in a specific home is 8 hours. Closely monitoring and treating seizures, fall precautions, cardiac decompensation, colostomy care, peritoneal dialysis, oxygen therapy, respiratory treatments, IV therapy, ADL's, promoting increased ROM. We also strongly support nurses being part of the patient's plan of care by attending doctor visits with the patient and parent...assisting the parent in care while there and reporting medically relevant issues.
Specialist Services
Registered nurses provide infusion therapy via chest port, central line, PICC line, or peripheral line routinely in the home in addition to private duty nursing. Nurses work closely with PCP, drawing routine labs to be resulted in the clinic, without patients having to leave home. We also have trained nurses in peritoneal dialysis in the home. Nurses are trained in colostomy care, monitoring output and skin integrity.
